Joseph Weinfurter

Joseph T. Weinfurter, 68, Pittsville, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at his home.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville on Friday, June 19, 2020, with Father Nathan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery in Pittsville. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Joseph was born on January 2, 1952, in Marshfield to Edward and Mary (Redmond) Weinfurter. He attended Pittsville High School. On July 15, 1978, he was united in marriage to Shirley Collins at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville. He worked at Wood County Highway Department for 30 years, before retiring in 2009.

Joe enjoyed hunting, watching the Packers, and sitting around the campfire at home. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter Beth (Seth Oliver) Weinfurter, son, Joe Weinfurter, and three grandchildren, Eric, Brittney, and Tyler. He is also survived by siblings, Pat Swiech, John (Liana) Weinfurter, Lucy (John) Henseler, Jim (Sally) Weinfurter, Dorothy Karl, Mary (Greg) Ely, Ed Weinfurter, Eileen (Keith) Prust, Raymond (Ron) Weinfurter, and Diane (Mike) Charneski.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bernie Swiech.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to palliative care and Ascension at Home Hospice.
