Obituary for Joan Borofka

Joan Marie Borofka (Eckes), 95, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at the House of the Dove.  Joan was born to Alex and Mary (Bauer) Eckes on November 18, 1929.  She attended school in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield Senior High.  On January 18, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Borofka.  They were married for 69 years.

Joan stayed home to raise their 5 children, being very involved in their activities.  Later, she would go back to work as a medical assistant in pediatrics for 25 years.  She loved her hobbies which included refinishing and reupholstering furniture, sewing, crewel stitching beautiful wall hangings, and golfing.  She and Bill were avid Packer fans, having season tickets.

Joan is survived by sons, Phillip (Mary) Borofka and Charles (Donna) Borofka.  Her three surviving daughters are Julie (Jim) Christensen, Jane Borofka, and Cathy (Gordy) Schalow.  Grandchildren include Sarah Schalow, Katie Schalow and Anne (Zach) Rickman, Andrew (Katherine) Christensen, and Nathan Borofka.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Ella and Jake Johnson, Callum Christensen, and Isla Rickman.  Her love of family was always evident in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Borofka.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield.  Following the service, a celebration of life/visitation will be held from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm at Rembs Celebration Center.
