James “Jim” R. Fuehrer

James “Jim” R. Fuehrer, Milladore, WI, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021, at The House of the Dove, Marshfield, to be with the love of his life, Jean.

He was born on December 14, 1934, in Sherry, WI. His parents were the late Catherine (Koller) and Ignatz William Fuehrer. He was the youngest of seven children. Jim grew up on a farm in Sherry and lived in the Blenker and Milladore, WI, area his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Germany. Jim married Jean (Kathryn) McGivern on September 29, 1956, in Milladore, WI. They were married for 53 years when she passed away in 2009. She was the love of his life, and he missed her so very much. Jim and Jean worked hard and had fun too. They enjoyed going to dances and raising their four children: Kathy Fuehrer Welch (Jim Welch), Joyce Fuehrer-Mancl (Larry Mancl), Patrick Fuehrer (Jayne Fuehrer), and Jason Fuehrer (Stacy Fuehrer). Jim’s children were his pride and joy, and he devoted his life to raising them and providing for them. Also, his pride and joy were his eight grandchildren: Benjamin Welch (Audrey), Katie Welch, Zachary Mancl, Maggie Mancl, Jacob Fuehrer, Mckenzie Fuehrer, Calista Fuehrer, and Liam Fuehrer. One of Jim’s favorite activities was going to “The Shack,” and hunting with the boys. He looked forward to the annual Fall Hunt every year and was also so proud!

Over the years, Jim owned a small farm, he worked at a feed mill, and he was a mechanic at Hughes Service for over thirty years, retiring in 2000. He was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, where he served in many roles. He had a deep love of God and instilled that love in his children. He served as the Village of Milladore’s president and served on its board for many years.

Jim was strong, dedicated, and kind, and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. If something needed to be done, he would be the first to step up. He was respectful and taught each of his children the importance of family and service to others. As he aged and his physical strength decreased, his inner strength and love for God and his family remained.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, WI, on Saturday, February 13, at 10:00 am. The service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Because of the pandemic, masks and social distancing are required! There will not be a visitation, receiving line, or a celebration after the service. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Jim’s family would like to thank the staff from the House of the Dove for the care they provided during his last days.

Dear Dad, Papa, and friend – You will always be with us, and we will always love you! Go in peace and have that long-awaited dance with Jeannie in Heaven!
