Obituary for Faustine J. Binder

Faustine J. Binder, 93, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her daughter’s home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Rev. Douglas Robertson will be officiating. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Faustine was born on January 21, 1925 in Marshfield, to Carl and Alvina (Petrie) Schmitt. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Frank H. Binder on February 12, 1945 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. He died on June 3, 2008.

Faustine worked in the business office at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for 27 years, before retiring in 1991. She was a wonderful mother who cared greatly for her children and grandchildren. Faustine enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking and traveling. She spent countless hours sewing clothes and knitting sweaters for her family and cooking Sunday dinners was a priority while raising her family. She was a woman of faith, and even while her health was declining, she always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life.

She is survived by her children, Frank C. (Lucille) Binder of Westport, MA, Michael Binder of Wausau, Thomas (Pat) Binder, Carl Binder, Jane Binder, Steven (Susan) Binder, Julie Binder, all of Marshfield, Jenifer Binder of Amherst Junction, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Carl Schmitt Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Sandra, and sister, Gloria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Faustine’s name to the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield.
