Evelyn “Ev” M. King, 65, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital – Madison.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home where visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time.

Evelyn was born on January 21, 1956 in Marshfield WI to Harvey and Margaret (Kramer) King. Ev graduated from Stratford High School in 1974 where she excelled in Math and History. She worked at the cheese factory, then at Weyerhauser /Marshfield Door Systems as a line worker and then to supervisor. Ev completed extra schooling for Weyerhauser and had many awards for achievements for her supervisor work. She then worked for Prince Corporation as an office clerk and other duties until her retirement in January of 2021.

Ev also enjoyed traveling. She got to go to Las Vegas, California and Niagara Falls which was her favorite. She also enjoyed riding her motorcycle and had been in softball, bowling and pool leagues. Pool was her favorite in all 3 activities she earned numerous first place trophies. She also enjoyed doing photography and had done weddings when asked. She enjoyed those the most. Her last activity she did and had so much fun with was camping, first different campgrounds and then her own land to camp on. She loved Halloween. Orange was her favorite color. She had 3 children the 4-legged furry tabby cats she loved named Cagney, Lacey, and Boomerang. They will be buried with her per her request. She also donated to charities of Disabled Veterans of America and cancer research for children. Ev was a very compassionate person and giving. She had a difficult childhood herself and started a good life at age 18. So if children were hungry she would buy groceries for them so they could eat or pay a food bill at the store if someone did not have enough money. If you needed anything she was there to help in any way she could. In her short retirement she loved being home relaxing, taking naps, and playing games on the computer. And oh how she loved to laugh and make others laugh, like her friends which she had plenty of and appreciated. Please feel free to share a funny story you might have had with Ev when you come to the visitation. Remember this is a celebration of a short, wonderful life.

She is survived by her partner of 22 years, Cora Markee, brothers, Harvey King Jr. of Thorp, Wilbert King of Hatley and Alfred King of Wisconsin Rapids, and sisters, Clara King of Eau Claire, and Frances King of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary King and brother, Lawrance King.

Special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Specialty Unit Hospital in Madison and to Linda Ryan, her best friend all her life, for being there at the end. Ev was able to say goodbye to her. Also, thank you to Dawn Wiester for carrying out her directives and wishes and Sue Gustke for all her help and support for Ev and Cora and her continued support.
