Obituary for Earl Topping, Sr.

Earl Topping, Sr., 77, Glendale, Arizona, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, where a visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Gary Markworth will officiate. Burial will be in Dexterville Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville.

Earl was born on November 7, 1943 in the Town of Dexter, Wood County, Wisconsin, to Archie and Dora (Mallory) Topping. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. He married Patricia Gardner and they divorced. He later married Kathy Jo Smith and she passed away.

Earl had been employed as a welder for Salt River Project in Arizona and performed AODA Counseling. He was a member of the American Legion Post 61 in Avondad, AZ.  He was a proud member of the Ho Chunk Nation.

He is survived by his son, Earl “EJ” Topping, Jr., and grandchildren, Christina Willet and Lydia Lucas. He is also survived by siblings, Bertha Gleason, Dan (Norma) Topping, sister-in-law, Gwen Rizo and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Kathy, his daughter, Dawn Lucus, and siblings, Silas Topping, Edward Topping, Sr., Joseph Topping, Eugene Topping, Yvonne Nelson, Millie Smith, Betty Topping, and Myron Topping.
