Obituary for David Schlagenhaft

David B. Schlagenhaft, 84, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where their will be a gathering for family and friends from 9:30 am until service time. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the service by the American Legion Post 54. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hewitt, at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

David Bruno Schlagenhaft was born on March 23, 1938, in Marshfield, to Bruno and Dorothy (Blenker) Schlagenhaft. He attended Shady Lane School, Our Lady of Peace Parochial School and was a 1956 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from October 1, 1961 until his honorable discharge on February 27, 1963. He married Fran A. Kille on December 17, 1976 in Marshfield.

Dave had been employed at Felker Brothers Manufacturing, Marshfield, for 41 years until his retirement in 2001.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, The American Legion Post 54, Whitetails Unlimited, and the Bakerville Sno-Rovers of which he served as past president. He enjoyed camping with his grandchildren, fishing, deer hunting, golfing and was a Packers and Brewers fan. He raced snowmobiles for Ole’ Yeller Racing Team.

He is survived by his wife Fran and two daughters, Jill (Jeff) Doescher of Rudolph and Michelle (Larry) Quinlan of Arpin. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He is further survived by a brother Richard (Patty) Schlagenhaft of Fond du Lac and a sister Fern (Allen) Mattson of Hancock, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Thora (Bob) Loescher, his stepfather Leonard Ashbeck and two great grandchildren.

Memorials may be designated to Columbus Catholic High School or the Children’s Miracle Network.
