Bernard A. Grassl, 71, Milladore, passed away after losing his battle with Lewy body dementia on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, Blenker with Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. A visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City on Thursday and from 10:00 am until service time at the church on Friday.

Bernard was born on August 20, 1949, in Marshfield to Edward and Margaret (Kohlbeck) Grassl. He attended PJ Jacobs High School. On June 14, 1975, he married Mary Ann Richardson, which later ended in divorce.

Bernard was a man of many talents. He grew up in a dairy farming family and continued the tradition with his children. He was a carpenter, an amazing cook, and a lover of polka music. He loved the Edgar Steam Show every year. He also enjoyed charter fishing with his friend Ken Linzmeier. He loved his kids and grandkids and attending their school activities and sporting events. He enjoyed a good fish fry on Friday night while catching up with friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his children, Brian (Heather) Grassl of Junction City, Allen (Laura) Grassl and Chris Grassl, both of Rudolph, and Angela (Andrew) Van Asten of Pulaski, and grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, Carter, Jedd, Jordan, Peyton, Taylor, Wyatt, and Levi. He is further survived by his mother, Margaret Grassl of Marshfield, siblings, Alfred Grassl of Marshfield, David (Shari) Grassl of Milladore, Donna Grassl of Marshfield, and Theresa (Dan) Esser of Lindsey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and brother, Charles “Carl” Grassl.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary Ann Grassl, Shari Grassl, and Heartland Hospice for their special care.
