Obituary for Barbara Millard

Barbara H. Millard, 78, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Marshfield Health Services.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:30 am until service time.

Barbara was born on August 12, 1943 at home in Loyal, Wisconsin, to Leon and Florence (Beaver) Hoeser. She grew up on the family farm near Loyal, attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Loyal High School. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Gary E. Millard on May 2, 1964 in Loyal, Wisconsin. He died on December 17, 2019.

Barb had been employed in Accounts Payable at the Marshfield Clinic for 42 years until her retirement. She was a people person and cherished times with her family, especially being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing BINGO, shopping, going out to eat with family and friends, occasional trips to the casino, and taking trips with her family. She liked to read and when her eyesight diminished, she still enjoyed listening to books through the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library. She was a strong advocate and speaker for the local Al-Anon group. In her later years she enjoyed daily visits to the Marshfield Area Respite Care Center where everyone there enjoyed conversations with her.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa M. (William) Gratzek of Marshfield and Sara L. Meyer of Elkhorn, WI.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brittany L. (Matthew) Kempen of Greenville, WI and Heather Meyer of Delavan, WI and two great grandchildren, Leah and Everett Kempen. She is further survived by special friends, Julie Nash and Trevor Beck, a sister Mary Ellen (Gary) Pradarelli and a brother James (Kathie) Hoeser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law John E. Meyer, and brothers, Ronald J. Hoeser and Dale E. Hoeser.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to DaVita Marshfield Dialysis, Marshfield Area Respite Care Center, or Marshfield Health Services.
