Obituary for Audrey Marie Moen

Audrey Marie Moen, age 81 of Marshfield, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at her home.

A memorial service for Audrey will be held at Zion United Methodist Church, 2106 North Peach Avenue in Marshfield on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Hyeok Won Kwon officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Audrey Marie (Stuebs) Moen was born on May 20, 1938 in the Town of Rock, Wood County. Her parents were Eric and Lucille (Ziemendorf) Stuebs. Audrey was the only child of Eric and Lucille. Growing up in that area and being an only child was lonesome for Audrey. Her early playmates were cousins, Jeanette, Terry and John and Sylvia Messing. They lived one mile away.

Audrey went to the Progress School in 1st. grade where her mother taught. 2nd. and 3rd. grade to her home school East Rock. 4th. 5th. 6th, grade to the Washington School south of Nasonville, again where her mother taught. 7th. and 8th. grade back to East Rock. She then went to Purdy Jr. High School. Graduating from Marshfield Senior High School, class of 1956.

She started working for JP Adler Theater Company as a senior in high school. She was secretary to Mr. Adler. Starting wage was 80 cents an hour.

In 1958 she moved to Madison and was secretary to the principal of Central High School. On March 16, 1959, Audrey was home from Madison for the weekend. Wisconsin had a huge blizzard. Her dad was out shoveling snow and had a massive heart attack. Audrey did not return to Madison, but stayed home to be with her mother. The following years she worked for Rollohome Corp, Perry-Carrington Engineering, Marshfield Door System, and Boson Construction.

In 1965, she married Ronald J. Moen and in 1966, they started Ron’s Chuckwagon Catering, which was the first food delivery service in Marshfield. In 1977 they opened the first submarine shop on North Central Avenue, and in 1982 they opened Booker’s Pizza and Chicken the first pizza delivery service in Marshfield. In 1988 they sold to Scotty Berg. In 1983, they started Ron’s Copy and T-Shirt Shop in Marshfield.

Audrey was always very active in volunteering her time. Through her church, Zion United Methodist, she held almost every office throughout her lifetime. She counseled youth at Camp Lucerne camp, was a certified lay speaker for 23 years, and facilitated many bible studies.

Audrey was also a charter member of Altrusa International of Marshfield. Along with serving in almost all committees on the local level she served 6 years on the District Seven Board which covered eight states.

Audrey was also a Red Coat Ambassador for MACCI.

The MHS Class of 1956 was very special to her. She organized most of the class reunions and summer events. The class met the first Wednesday of every month and enjoyed each other’s company and kept up with as many members as they were able to.

Audrey had a very full life, alongside her husband Ron their daughter, Lisa Audrey (Moen) Berg, a grandson Brandon Cory Berg. and a son, Cory Ronald Moen, who preceded her in death in 1999.
