NWS Confirms EF1 Tornado in Clark County

Clark County experienced its own storm damage during Tuesday night’s severe weather that devastated parts of western Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service determined Thursday that a EF1 tornado touched down south of Greenwood. The time, size, and wind speed of the EF1 tornado is still being determined. EF1 tornadoes are classified as “moderate” tornadoes with wind speeds of 86-110 miles per hour.

An EF3 tornado was confirmed in the town of Wheaton. It had 150 mph winds, was 5.5 miles long, and 1/3 mile wide.

Update: For Clark County, the NWS estimated peak winds of 88 mph, a path of 4.71 miles, and a width of 60 yards from 9:26-9:31 p.m. It started 4.5 miles southwest of Greenwood.

“A tornado tracked from southwest of Greenwood to west of Loyal for approximately five minutes, damaging trees, barns, and silos along its path,” the NWS stated.

The tornado caused damage to trees, barns, and silos in the Greenwood and Loyal areas. The damage occurred along County Road OO and continued across highways 73 and 98 with the worst damage to farms south and southwest of Greenwood.
