Cross country runners on a race. Active healthy outdoor lifestyle

Pittsville – for OnFocus.news

“We had our first cross country meet of the season tonight and, as a team, we’re excited to see where we improve from here,” Nekoosa Cross Country Head Coach Rachel France.
Race details:
In an effort to beat the rain, the coaches and officials opted to run the boys and girls races at a staggered start.
Owen Michael started his race with the intention of maintaining a consistent pace, which paid off for him as he created negative splits between his second and third mile. With a great kick, Owen finished his race at 24:22.9.
Rhianna Dye returned to the course for her senior season. She ran her race, doing well to work with the runners around her in her first mile, finishing at 30:58.
Karissa Cote and Sofia Gaupp are newbies to cross country as a sport. Together, they competed and learned what racing is all about. Their competitive drive came out as they picked other athletes off in the final 100 meters of their race. Karissa and Sofia finished at 33:26.2 and 33:49.8, respectively.
Hunter Kells and Matthew Gildenzoph are recovering from early cases of shin-splints and are eager to race in future meets.
Papermakers head to their next meet at 9-Mile on Thursday, September 2nd.
