Names Released in Town of Richfield Incident

Cause of Death Not Confirmed

Wood County release –

On January 12, 2020 at approximately 1:01 P.M. a family member of the male home
owner of a residence at 7631 Richfield Drive arrived and discovered both the male and female victims deceased.

The two victims were James D. Wypych, 26, and Makela J. Lange, 23.

The victims had not been seen by family or friends since approximately December 25, 2019.

The Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory was requested to assist the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner’s Office with the investigation and responded to the scene. The cause of death for each victim has not yet been confirmed. Further medical examination and toxicology will be conducted.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department asks anyone who may have information or had contact with either individual recently to please contact Investigator-Sergeant Scott Goldberg at 715-389-0283 or 715-421-8701.

Both deaths remain under investigation.

On Sunday, January 12, 2020 at approximately 1:01 P.M., Wood County deputies were dispatched to a Town of Richfield home at 7631 Richfield Drive for a report of a male and female who were both discovered to be deceased.

A cause of death for each individual is not confirmed as of this time. The scene is currently under investigation by Wood County deputies and members of the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.

Names of the individuals involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of family. The general public is not in any danger as a result of this incident. Further information will be released when available.
