Mosinee’s Brooklyn Montgomery: Impact of Community Support is Humbling and Appreciated

Mosinee (OnFocus) – Brooklyn Montgomery concluded a fabulous volleyball career at Mosinee, earning second team honors on the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Team.

We caught up with Montgomery with the world-famous interview capped off by the ultimate question by the same title: ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’

OnFocus: What classes are you taking this year?

Montgomery: I am taking Sociology, Accounting, Discovering your Career, AP Environmental Science and Pre- Calc.

OnFocus: What is your favorite class?

Montgomery: My favorite class is Sociology.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Montgomery: Spending time with friends and family and going on the lake.

OnFocus: What is your most memorable moment as an athlete?

Montgomery: My most memorable moment as an athlete was going to state as a sophomore and not just the playing part but the way that we were treated while we were there was crazy. I just remembered walking out of the tunnel to play and all of our community cheering for us. It was such a humble feeling to see how many people in our community were there for us.

OnFocus: Who is/was your favorite teacher?

Montgomery: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Jahnke.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Montgomery: Alligator.

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Montgomery:I really do enjoy all kinds of music but my favorite is probably R&B.

OnFocus: What are your plans after high school?

Montgomery: I plan on going to a 4 year university. I will either go in state for 3 years and study abroad in Europe for one year or I will go out of state for 4 years.

OnFocus: If they made a movie about you, and your life,  what would it be called?

Montgomery: Mischief at the Montgomery’s.

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

Montgomery: I just play volleyball but I play it year round.

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Montgomery: I would not want to be stranded on a desert island with Claire Selenske because she gets too scared.

Montgomery:  The coaches are definitely the best part of being an athlete. They really do make sure to push you but they also make sure that it is a fun experience. Also,this community is very different. Since we are a small town, a lot of the community watched our high school sports and I find that really special too.

OnFocus: What is your most memorable moment as an athlete?

Montgomery: My favorite athlete is Steph Curry because he has been pursuing his dream ever since he was very young.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about playing home games?

Montgomery:  Seeing all of our fans come to them and being able to pack the gym.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Mosinee?

Montgomery:  The coaches are definitely the best part of being an athlete. They really do make sure to push you but they also make sure that it is a fun experience. Also,this community is very different. Since we are a small town, a lot of the community watched our high school sports and I find that really special too.

OnFocus: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Montgomery:  My advice would be that hard work pays off and I know that is such a popular saying but if you work hard every time that you’re in the gym then I promise you, it will pay off.

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Montgomery:  I would have to say pancakes.
