Mosinee Boys Pull Away in Road Win over Rhinelander

Mosinee traveled to Rhinelander tonight for their second-half of the conference swing matchup, defeating the Hodags 55-44.

The first point of the night was scored by Trenton Dorn from the free-throw line by Mosinee 2 minutes and 20 seconds into the game. Mosinee would trail though by as much as 6-1 until a couple of field goals started to fall with Davin Stoffel around the rim and Trevor Garski with a three to tie up the game at 10 all. Mosinee would go on a 17-12 run to close out the half which included threes from Evan Utphall and Cole Kowalski.

Keagen Jirschele would continue to slice through the Hodag’s defense getting to the rim in the second half. Drake Grod would hit a three when with fourteen minutes to go in the game, Davin Stoffel throws down a monster two-handed dunk in transition on an outlet pass from Keagen Jirschele off of a defensive rebound off of a Stoffel block.
Rhinelander would go on a 19-10 run to bring the lead down to 3, 45-42, with 5:48 to play which included a three by Kyle Miller and Trevor Garski.
Mosinee would score one more field goal and the rest from the charity stripe on the night to win 55-44, advancing to 18-1 on the season and 9-0 in the GNC. Mosinee forced 13 turnovers and had 24 stops on the night, including 13 out of Rhinelander’s last 15 possessions of the game, not to mention the last 7 in a row to end the game.
