Missing Marathon County Woman Located

Rebecca (Jakubowski) Pospyhalla

OnFocus – Rebecca Pospyhalla has been located by investigators and is no longer considered missing/endangered. She has retained legal counsel and refused to share any information regarding the circumstances of the fire that destroyed her home.

11/06/20 UPDATE: Investigators have finished hand excavation of the burn site and found no human remains. We still hope to find Rebecca to check her welfare and determine the circumstances of the fire.

11/05/20 UPDATE: The Town of Hamburg Fire Department and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by various other agencies, responded to a house fire that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 4 at a property on County Road L in the Town of Hamburg. The structure was a total loss and the burn site is still being investigated with the help of Sate Fire Marshals.

We have yet to locate the homeowner, 74 year-old Rebecca (Jakubowski) Pospyhalla. Rebecca may have left in a white Chrysler Town and Country van bearing Wisconsin registration 975-HRU, but we wish to locate her to verify she is okay and unharmed.

We are asking for help from the public. If anyone has had contact with Rebecca in the past two days or knows how to contact her, please notify our dispatch center at 715-261-1200, option 1. Rebecca is known to run errands in the Village of Athens and may occasionally travel to parts of northern or western Wisconsin.
