Mellen vs Nekoosa & Kimberly: Most Unique Mascot Challenge

As we get started on our quest for the most unique high school matchup we get three mascots based on local industry.

1 Mellen Granite Diggers

Mellen and the surrounding area has a long mining history, and there is even a special type of black granite from the hills around the city of Mellen, so it would make sense that the high school in the small town would carry the Granite Digger mascot.

16 Nekoosa & Kimberly Papermakers

One of only two multi-school mascots to make our list, both cities, and the surrounding areas are home to many paper mills with both cities giving their name to a paper company, Kimberly Clark and Nekoosa Paper. With paper being such a large part of Wisconsin’s history it is surprising that more schools do not take the Papermaker mascot.
