MEDFORD, WI (OnFocus) – After eight days of intense search efforts, the body of Martevious D. Watts has been located. Martevious was last seen on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and despite aerial and ground searches, no signs of him were found until Friday, October 18. Tragically, his body was recovered from the river near the Mill Pond at around 9:13 PM.
Throughout the week, dedicated teams, including Wings of Hope, Christian Aid Ministries Search & Rescue, and several others, worked tirelessly to locate Martevious. On October 18, the water level of the Mill Pond was lowered to assist in the search, and teams conducted thorough ground, aerial, and water searches in the surrounding area.
The Medford Police Department, along with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and additional agencies, extended their deepest condolences to Martevious’ family and friends. Chief Chad M. Liske expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many volunteers and organizations who assisted in the search, including North Star Search and Rescue, Wisconsin K9 S.O.S Search and Rescue, and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team. The outpouring of community support was invaluable during this difficult time, they said.
The Medford Police Department will continue its investigation, working to provide closure to Martevious’ loved ones. If anyone has further information regarding this case, please contact the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 715-748-2200 ext. 5.
