Medford Blows Out Newcomer Hayward

The Medford Raiders blew out the newest member of the Great Northern Conference the Hayward/LCO Hurricanes 52-7.

Medford would open the scoring with 7:48 remaining in the first quarter on a 26-yard Touchdown Pass from Logan Baumgartner to Riley Herman, the two-point conversion would fail.

Medford would get another touchdown pass with 2:00 remaining in the first, this time Nate Retterath would throw a 29-yard touchdown to Colton Surek, Baumgartner would throw the two-point conversion to Surek giving the Raiders a first quarter 14-0 lead.

The Raiders would get a huge play to open the second quarter as Blane Seidl would return an interception 85 yards for a touchdown, Gardner would run in the two-point conversion.

Then with 7:29 remaining in the second, Gardner would get himself a touchdown on an 11-yard run, Medford would convert the two-point conversion on a pass from Bumgartner to Emett Grunwald.

Grunwald would get in on the touchdown parade with a 2-yard touchdown run of his own, the two-point conversion would be unsuccessful.

Then on Hayward’s next offensive play, Seidl would get his second interception and return it 45 yards for a touchdown, Peyton Kuhn would run in the 2-point conversion sending Medford to the half with a 44-0 lead.

The Hurricanes would get on the board late in the 3rd with a 34-yard pass from Derrick Miller to Tanner Poppe, Coburn Hanson would convert the extra point, cutting the Medford lead to 44-7.

Medford would tack on one more touchdown from the JV squad on a 6 yard run by Trevon Drallmeier, Drallmeier would also run in the two-point conversion, giving Medford the win at 52-7.

Medford would be co-led in rushing by Grunwald and Gardner both would have eight carries for 56 yards and a touchdown, Peyton Gilles would add 42 yards on eight carries. Retterath would go 2-2 for 38 yards and a touchdown, Baumgartner would go 1-2 for 26 yards and a touchdown. Seidl would have 2 interceptions with 130 return yards and two touchdowns.
