Medford and Auburndale Girls Win Cross Country Sectionals

The Medford Raiders and Auburndale Apache girls cross country teams have repeated as sectional champions and qualify for the WIAA State Cross Country Championships

The Medford Raiders won the Division 2 Sectional at Colby High School with a team score of 35. Medford runners would finish 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, with Franny Seidel finishing 2nd with a time of 20:21.6, Jennifer Kahn would finish 3rd with a time of 20:36.3, and Alicia Kawa would finish 4th with a time of 20:36.7. The individual sectional champion was Laura Beghin from Wisconsin Dells with a time of 20:07.3

The boy’s sectional title went to La Crosse Logan with a team score of 43, the individual boys sectional champion was Zach Slevin of Logan with a time of 16:57.2. The Medford Raiders would also qualify Joseph Sullivan as an individual with a 4th place finish overall and a time of 17:22.2

The Auburndale Apaches won the Division 3 Sectional at Athens High School on Friday afternoon with a team score of 57. Auburndale would have runners finish 6th and 7th. McKenna Zieher would finish 6th with a time of 20:15.0 and Erricka Zenner would finish 7th with a time of 20:29.5, Jordyn Karl would finish 14th with a time of 21:12.7.

The individual sectional championship went to Savannah Schley of Loyal with a time of 19:35.4.

The boy’s sectional title went to Pacelli with a team score of 68. Individual sectional champion is Garrett Dolan of Assumption with a time of 16:26.9. Individual qualifiers include Johnathon Nowacki of Athens with a 2nd place finish and a time of 16:50.6, James Heeg of Stratford with a 5th place finish and a time of 17:01.6, and Carl Lundgren of Auburndale with a 6th place finish and a time of 17:02.8.

In Division 1 at the Stevens Point sectional, the Panthers swept the podiums wining both team and both individual sectional titles. The Marshfield Tigers qualified four individuals, qualifiers on the boy’s side Joseph McKee with a 5th place finish and a time of 16:21.0, and Joshua McKee with a 6th place finish and a time of 16:23.8. Qualifiers on the girl’s side include Eliana Kanitz with a 2nd place finish and a time of 19:30.7 and Michaela Dick with a 7th place finish and a time of 19:55.3.
