Mayor McManus Announces Appointment of Dean Pitt to Fire and Police Commission

Marshfield (OnFocus) At the meeting of the Common Council on Tuesday, April 21st Mayor Bob McManus announced that he would be replacing Andy Keogh, a longtime member of the commission, with the appointment of Dean Pitt, 907 W. State Street, to the Fire and Police Commission.

Pitt has a law enforcement background, having started with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department in 1991 as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Patrol Division. He was certified as an instructor in defensive arrest tactics, tactical response, firearms, and professional communications.

During his tenure, he also worked as a Detective in the Investigations Division and later transferred to the Civil Process Unit. Pitt was also on the SWAT team in the role of sniper.

Pitt retired from the department on October 11, 2019, taking a new role as a Security Director at Mid-State Technical College.

At the Common Council meeting on Tuesday, April 28th, Mayor McManus will request the approval of the Mayor’s citizen appointment of Pitt to the Fire and Police Commission.
