Marshfield’s Jenna Jakobi named Player of the Year on 2019 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Softball Team

Marshfield landed three players on the first team and three others earn honors on the 2019 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Softball Team, which was voted on by the seven conference coaches at the conclusion of the season.

Marshfield senior outfield Jenna Jakobi was a unanimous first-team selection and named the Wisconsin Valley Conference Player of the Year.

Jakobi hit .462 (18-for-39) with six doubles, three home runs, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored in conference play this past season as the Tigers finished 7-5 and in a tie for third place in the standings. She also had a conference-high 10 walks and finished second with a .560 on-base percentage.

Junior shortstop Jordan Prestch and senior utility player Rhiannon Corozolla also earned first-team status for the Tigers.

Pretsch hit .351 (13-for-37) with seven RBIs, and Corozolla batted a team-high .467 (14-for-30) with two home runs, eight RBIs, and 10 runs scored, and led the conference with a .590 on-base percentage.

Sophomore outfielder Taylor Barwick and freshman pitcher Courtney Donahue were second-team selections, and freshman outfielder Loryn Jakobi was an honorable mention choice for Marshfield.

Barwick batted .412 (14-for-34) with 10 runs scored, and Loryn Jakobi hit .350 (14-for-40) with 10 runs scored and eight RBIs.

Donahue was the Tigers’ No. 1 pitcher, going 7-4 in 12 games with a 3.54 earned-run average. She struck out 82 batters in 65 1/3 innings.

Marshfield finished 16-10 overall, reaching the WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinals before losing to Chippewa Falls.
