Marshfield’s Jakobi earns first-team honors on 2018-19 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Basketball Team

Marshfield senior Jenna Jakobi was an unanimous first-team selection to the 2018-19 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Basketball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

Jakobi, an honorable mention choice last season, led the Tigers in scoring at 16.1 points per game in conference play. She led the Valley in field goal percentage at 58.9 percent (73-for-124), was fourth in the free throw shooting at 78.3 percent (47-for-60), and assists (4.5 per game).

Stevens Point junior Leah Earnest and senior Madisyn Rogan, and Wausau West seniors Kadie Deaton and Maddie Schires were also unanimous first-team picks. Earnest was named Player of the Year as she led the conference in scoring (27.0 points per game) and rebounding (12.8 per game).

Earnest, Deaton and Schires were first-team selections last year.

Marshfield also had three players earn honorable mention accolades. Juniors Kaydee Johnson and Paige Preston, and sophomore Maddie Michaelis were among the selections.

Johnson led the Tigers in rebounding (4.9 per game), while averaging 9.6 points and 2.5 assists per game.

Michaelis had a team-high 32 3-pointers and scored 10.7 points per game, and Preston averaged 4.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest in conference play for Marshfield, which finished 7-5 and in third place.
