WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield junior Gracie Holland became the first individual champion in the school’s program history after taking two titles on Saturday at the 2019 WIAA State Gymnastics Championships at Lincoln High School.

Holland won the vault with a score of 9.567 and had top-eight finishes in the other three events to claim the all-around title by 3/100th of a point with a final total of 37.267 points.

She edged last year’s Division 1 all-around champion Alexis Woida of Hartland Arrowhead, who had a score of 37.233.

In addition to her winning vault, Holland finished fifth in the uneven bars (9.317), tied for sixth in the floor exercise (9.267), and was eighth in the balance beam (9.117).

“The amazing coaching staff, especially my head coach at Gymsport, Taj Jefferson, has truly impacted my gymnastics career,” Holland said. “As I stood on the podium, I looked at my mom and she was crying. I thought back the all the sacrifices my parents made to help me get to were I am today. My mom has always believed in me even when I didn’t myself. She has truly been my inspiration; her dedication and determination has
lead me to where I am today.

“My father keeps me grounded and taught me how to manage my priorities. Without my amazing parents, I wouldn’t have been able to stand on top of the podium. This moment will forever be surreal and I’m so grateful that I got to experience it.”
