Marshfield wins six events, Holland sets new school record at Wisconsin Valley Conference Indoor Track Meet

STEVENS POINT – Gracie Holland won the girls pole vault, setting a new school record in the event, and Caden Pearce and Joey Goettl each won two events on the boys side as Marshfield competed at the 2019 Wisconsin Valley Conference Track & Field Meet on Tuesday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Holland won the pole vault with a vault of 11 feet, a new indoor Marshfield girls record.

The Marshfield girls finished fifth with 61 points and the boys were fourth with 110 points, just one point shy of third-place Wausau West. Stevens Point won both team titles.

Pearce won the boys 400 meters in 51.88 seconds and the 200 meters in 23.34 seconds, while Goettl took first in the boys long jump (20 feet, 4 inches) and triple jump (43-7¾ inches).

The Marshfield boys also won the 1,600-meter relay as Pearce, Goettl, Sam Hinson and Addison Hill finished the race in 3:37.26.

Dawson Tysver had a runner-up finish in the boys pole vault (12-6) for the Tigers.

Molly Meyers finished second in the shot put (37-10¼) and Carly Brickley was third in the 60 meters (8.33 seconds) for the Marshfield girls.

The Marshfield boys will compete at the Wausau West Invitational on April 16, while the girls team is off until April 18 when it is at the D.C. Everest Invite.
