Marshfield High School will host the Division 2 State Soccer Championships on Saturday at Kenneth and Ardyce Heiting Community Stadium.

“I think it a significant recognition for our school and community’s commitment to youth and education-based athletics that we are being considered,” said Marshfield Athletic Director Nathan Delaney. “There is so much uncertainty in the regular day to day, that our previous WIAA hosting’s allowed us to be considered. The other key piece, is we have a start of the art facility in the center of the state to do this as well.”

The games will have an impact on the community as fans from four communities will be making the trip to Marshfield.

“Four teams will play on Saturday. Roncalli/Two Rivers, Medford, Delavan-Darien, and Sauk Prairie,” said Delaney. “We are planning for 400-600 fans per game or 200/300 per school.”

“The community helped build a facility we are all very proud of for our kids,” said Delaney. “But, as our facility was being constructed, we also recognized the potential it was going to have to host these state-level events or other events.”

You can watch the WIAA Division 2 State Championship Games starting at 11:00 AM on WIAA.tv.
