Single Vehicle Accident Reported In Marshfield

Marshfield (OnFocus) Central Wisconsin received its first accumulating snowfall of the season overnight, and drivers are urged to use caution on snow-covered and slippery roads this morning.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a single-vehicle accident involving a garbage truck on Hwy 13 Northbound at the intersection of Cty Road F between Marshfield and Spencer. The accident is currently in progress, and no further information is available at this time.

Drivers in the area should allow for extra travel time and use caution when braking. It is also advised to leave extra space between vehicles and to avoid sudden stops and turns.

Here are some additional safety tips for driving in winter weather:

  • Make sure your vehicle is properly winterized, including having snow tires or chains on hand. (If you carry chains, we want to know!)
  • Keep your headlights on, even during the day.
  • Allow extra distance between vehicles and brake early.
  • Avoid sudden stops and turns.
  • Be aware of black ice, which can be difficult to see.
  • If you start to skid, take your foot off the gas pedal and turn the steering wheel in the direction of the skid.
