UPDATE: Marshfield Schools in Soft Lockdown, No Safety Threat

1:22 p.m. OnFocus has been able to confirm that the Marshfield School District is under soft lockdown per Marshfield Police Department regarding a development in the community as a precaution.

There was no direct threat to any school or individual at the schools. Initial lockdown was a hard lockdown which has since been reduced to a soft lockdown. Teaching has resumed.

1:45: Statement from MPD: “Marshfield Police is aware of the precautionary lockdown at Sr High. It is related to a search for an individual who is not believed to be at the school who is alleged to be armed and may be in crisis. No specific threat to the school or anyone in particular. Just safety consciousness at this point.”

2:08: Marshfield Police: “This was precautionary and involving all the schools. I am hearing it is being released at this time. There is no known specific concern for anyone’s safety other than the person we are still looking for. Officers will be near the schools at dismissal – as we usually are.”

2:12: All schools will be dismissing as normal.

2:55: Police are escorting students to the buses.

3:30: Police have a suspect in custody. More details to follow.

4:00: Police have two individuals in custody. Civilians not at risk.

4:08: Shortly after 3 p.m. MPD brought two subjects into custody. At the time of the altercation, police notified dispatch of a 10-32 (person with gun). Shortly after arrest, police took suspects in for questioning. OnFocus has reached out to MPD for more information. Officers are in process of booking the subjects.
