The Marshfield Middle School girls bowling team has advanced to the state tournament in Green Bay on May 5th at Ashwaubenon Lanes. Team member Morgan Fritsch has qualified for the the State Middle School Girls Singles. Also qualifying is Morgan Schober for Middle School Boys Singles.

“To make it to the singles part of the state tournament is a little bit of a process. Every meet we have, I keep stats of how each of our children bowl,” said Mark Bushman, Head Coach.

The teams with the highest scores during the last two meets of the year are chosen to go onto state. “In our district they normally take 6 co-op/boys teams,” said Bushman. “There are not a lot of girls teams out there so that number will vary.”

Marshfield will bowl against other middle school girls teams at the tournament.

“My job as the head coach is to make sure we are competing by the rules, coaching or directing the kids on how to make adjustments, taking or putting in the statistics that I or someone is keeping,” said Bushman. “I’m making sure all the paperwork gets in on time, setting up the practices, running the practices. In my opinion the biggest [task] is to make sure the kids are having fun.”
