Panel Gives Insight Into IT Careers
On April 24, 26 students from Marshfield High School visited MCHS IS (Information Services) to tour the building and participate in a career panel discussion.
At each tour stop, students learned about the variety of teams necessary to support Marshfield Clinic Health System. They learned how MCHS IS ensures patients’ information is safe, software applications function correctly and users receive excellent customer support and services in order to provide high quality patient care for our communities.
Professionals from different disciplines within MCHS IS, including solutions architect, systems analyst, product manager, user experience designer and project manager, participated in a question and answer session. Employees shared their experience on how they got to where they are today and described responsibilities in their current position.
“This event is a great opportunity for students to gain insight into careers in health IT, learn about technical and thinking skills necessary to succeed in the workplace and observe the MCHS culture,” said Kim Pemble, M.S., CPHIMS, FHIMSS, enterprise applications and data solutions vice president.
In March, three MCHS IS staff presented to Business and Technology classes at Marshfield High School to share about their career path and current role as a programmer/analyst, network engineer and desktop administrator.
This partnership between MCHS IS and Marshfield High School will continue to highlight career opportunities within health care IT.
