Marshfield (OnFocus) – In a letter to district parents, Marshfield High School leadership highlighted important information in preparation for the upcoming school year. (Parents are able to check their online portals for resources and updates.)

“As we approach the first day of school, we are trying to get all pertinent information out to you,” the letter, signed by Principal Michael Nicksic, Assistant Principal Jackson Hein, Assistant Principal Jamie Defelice, and Athletic and Activities Director Nathan DeLany, said. “The last critical pieces of information are the cohort assignments, school newsletter, and our plans for Meet and Greet.”

The following are the Marshfield High School cohorts:

COHORT A Last names A – Franklin
COHORT B Last names L – R
COHORT C Last names Franks – K
COHORT D Last names S – Z

Students will not be permitted to switch cohorts and must attend the day they are assigned, according to the letter. Students showing up to MHS on days their cohort is not assigned will be directed to leave.

“Our spacing for lunches and study halls are a challenge in compliance with proper social distancing,” leadership said. “We cannot afford to take on extra students in many of our classes, study halls, and lunches for these reasons.”

A virtual “Meet and Greet” will be held for parents on Friday, August 28, using educational software “Canvas.” All professional staff will have submitted a brief biography and course navigation video on their respective Canvas courses. Parent/Guardians who sign up to be an observer in Canvas will have access to their student’s courses and learn more about the course, the teacher, and how to navigate the Canvas platform throughout the school year.

“We know the beginning of the school year under the current situation is going to have a different feel than the traditional school setting. We empathize with all families, but ask you to familiarize yourself with the resource guide, particularly as it pertains to Daily Operations and Student Expectations,” they said. “It is imperative students understand and follow these guidelines to maintain a safe school setting and avoid any complicated contact tracing situations and temporary school shutdowns.”
