Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Police and Fire Commission confirmed two new recruits and held a shield presentation on Jan. 15 at the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department.

Joining the fire department is firefighter and EMT Matthew Travis, who has worked with the Chippewa Fire District since 2015 and will be a medic with the department after completing his paramedic license. He earned an associate degree from Chippewa Valley Technical College and also studied at Northcentral Technical College. Previously, Travis worked in Eau Claire as a Braze Technician at Riverside Machine and Engineering.

Firefighter and Paramedic Jacob Kenowski served as a firefighter at Port Edwards since December 2014 and also worked part-time with Nekoosa Ambulance. He has worked in Wisconsin Rapids as a CNC Machinist and a Professional Mover. A licensed paramedic, he holds an associate degree as a Paramedic Technician from Mid-State Technical College.

Both took their Oath of Office and had their badges pinned during the Commission meeting.

“We’re very excited to have them on board,” said Fire Chief Scott Owen.

Ryan Dunn, firefighter and paramedic, exchanged his recruit shield for a helmet shield at the meeting to mark the successful completion of his 1-year probation period. Originally from Hartford, WI, Dunn accepted a position in Marshfield last January.
