Marshfield Fire & Rescue Responds to Overnight Fire at Masonite

At 12:28 a.m. Tuesday, the Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department responded to a report of smoke in a wood collection system at Masonite (Marshfield Door Systems).

On arrival, crews found smoke coming from the system. All employees had evacuated the building.

A fire attack was initiated using Truck 1 and 2 engines. The fire was difficult to access and extinguish because of the location of the fire and the configuration of the machinery. The fire was contained and fully extinguished approximately two hours after the initial call.

All crews returned safely and no injuries to anyone were reported. The building was turned back over to Masonite staff around 4:30 a.m.

Marshfield Fire & Rescue thanks Masonite on-site staff for their expert assistance in locating and extinguishing the fire and to Spencer Fire Department & Ambulance Service for standing by for ambulance calls until Marshfield Fire could get off-duty personnel into the station to staff an ambulance.

The department also extends a thank-you to Hewitt Area Volunteer Fire Department for responding to its request to have personnel and an engine standby in the station ready to respond to other City fire calls that may have come in (luckily none did).
