Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department Suspends Tours as Precaution Against COVID-19

 

Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department – As a measure of precaution and due to the potential risks posed to our staff and to the public by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department feels that it is in the best interest of our community to cancel any previously scheduled public education events and station tours of all age groups for the foreseeable future, similar to many other agencies and events in the area.

While we understand the coronavirus and the possibilities associated with it, we have elected to take this safety measure as a means to reducing any additional chance of exposure to our members, aside from emergency calls for service.

Our first responders carry an increased risk of coming into contact with such a virus during their normal duties, and while we are working diligently to keep our surfaces, facilities, and equipment sanitized we cannot eliminate or minimize our potential contact with others that may be ill and therefore do not want to unnecessarily expose any visitors or citizens.

This move will limit exposure to our members so they can remain healthy to be able to help the citizens we serve. We hope this is a short-lived event as we really do enjoy interacting with the public and having visitors at the station.
