MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – As COVID-19 related cases and deaths continue to rise across the United States and in our area, measures are being taken to ensure the city is ready.
A proposal will be first brought to the City’s Emergency Management Committee on Monday that would give City Administrator Steve Barg the power to enact emergency measures at the City Hall. These measures could include: Mask wearing indoors, limiting access to public buildings or closing off access to public buildings all-together if the need arises.
As of August 5, the Wood County Health Department showed there were 76 active cases of COVID-19 in the county.
Barg said in the proposal of the topic that he hopes this is just precautionary but it is essential to be prepared.
“As you are aware, COVID-19 cases are increasing across the country and in our area, due largely to the Delta variant,” Barg said. “I certainly hope that actions like this will not be warranted, but it is difficult to tell at this point.”
If approved by the Emergency Management Committee, Barg will present the proposal to the Common Council on Tuesday night’s meeting.
