WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Kade McManus scored 9 minutes into the game and Kyle Tremelling added a goal early in the second half to push the Marshfield boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Monday night at Washington Elementary School Field.

The Tigers won for the fourth time in their last five games and is now 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Rapids falls to 1-5-1 and 0-3 in conference play.

Marshfield controlled the game throughout, outshooting the Raiders 25-6 overall and 12-4 on goal.

Tommy Olson made three saves in goal for the Tigers, and Spencer Frey assisted on both of Marshfield’s goals.

“I’m happy to get the win at Wisconsin Rapids,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “We had them on their heels and had multiple scoring chances that included a post and crossbar that would have put them away. They almost tied it up at the end. We need to do a better job of controlling the ball when we have the lead, it was pretty frenetic. We still have a lot of work to do to get better.”

Marshfield plays at D.C. Everest on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at D.C. Everest Junior High.
