Marshfield boys basketball loses at Merrill

MERRILL – Merrill remains undefeated on the young season after downing Marshfield 64-50 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night at Merrill High School.

Marshfield shot just 42 percent (20 of 48) and only went to the free throw line twice in the loss. The Tigers are now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Valley.

Merrill (5-0, 2-0 WVC) led 30-25 at halftime before pulling its lead to double figures in the second half.

Isaac Meverden had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Anthony Posteluk and Preston Wagner each added 12 points for the Tigers. The rest of the team was 5 of 22 from the field and scored just 12 points.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
