MARSHFIELD – Marshfield used a five-run third inning to push past D.C. Everest 9-6 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.

The Tigers led 3-1 after a two-run second inning before Everest tied it with two runs in the top of the third.

Marshfield responded with five runs in the bottom of the third, which included two-RBI hits by Riley Boushack and Ryan Krueger.

Will Voss earned the win for the Tigers, striking out six in 6 2/3 innings. Everest mounted a rally in the top of the seventh, scoring three times, before Marshfield was able to get out of the jam.

Mason Coffren was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Preston Wagner, Isaac Meverden and Krueger each had two hits in the win. Krueger drove in four runs.

The two teams will play again Thursday at D.C. Everest in the final WVC game for both teams. Marshfield will finish its regular season on Friday with a nonconference home game against Eau Claire North.

Marshfield will open WIAA postseason action with a regional semifinal next Tuesday, May 28. Division 1 brackets will be released sometime this week.
