The Marshfield Area Community Foundation (MACFI) and Marshfield Area United Way (MAUW) have teamed up to help support the Marshfield community in the wake of COVID-19, through a COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The $30,000 collaboration will provide financial relief to area nonprofits impacted by the current pandemic. The initial $30,000 for this fund is from MACFI, MAUW, and an anonymous donor each contributing $10,000.

The COVID-19 Relief Fund will give charitable resources where they are needed most with an initial focus on food, shelter, and other basic needs of those most significantly impacted by this crisis.

“We took some time to really think through our resources, ” said Stacey Schultz, Marshfield Area Community Foundation Executive Director. “We know that this is going to be a marathon, not a sprint, that we will need to face needs immediately and long-term.”

While donors are encouraged to continue their regular support of area non-profits, this fund will simplify giving and allows funds to be directed where the need is greatest.

HOW TO GIVE

Donors have many options for contributing:

Give online at marshfieldareacommunityfoundation.org or marshfieldareaunitedway.org

Checks can be sent to MACFI at PO BOX 456, Marshfield, WI 54449 with COVID-19 Fund in the memo line.

Donor Advised Funds thru MACFI can also contribute. Call Stacey at 715-384-9029 or email at [email protected]

100% DISTRIBUTION

In a consolidated effort to help those most affected by COVID-19, MACFI is waiving all administrative fees for the Relief Fund. This means (with the exception of fees charged by banks/credit card companies) that 100% of a donor’s gift will be used to help those most affected by COVID-19 in the Marshfield Area.

The Relief Fund will be administered in multiple phases to address immediate and longer-term needs related to this crisis. Phase One, priority will be given to organizations working to meet the basic needs of those most significantly impacted by this crisis. Phase One includes proactively identifying grant recipients using input and guidance from organizations and others in the community in order to make grant decisions. Future grant phases will be communicated as fundraising continues throughout the crisis, making it possible to quickly adapt to evolving needs.

ORGANIZATIONS SEEKING FUNDING

Eligible organizations can submit a brief grant application for funding at either the marshfieldareacommunityfoundation.org or marshfieldareaunitedway.org websites.

Organizations can also email Stacey for an application at [email protected] or call Stacey at the Foundation at 715-384-9029 .

THE GRANT-MAKING PROCESS

Grants will be given in the MACFI and MAUW service areas.

Phase One grants are not designed to simply replace lost revenue but to assist with increased service level demands caused by COVID-19.

The Marshfield Area COVID-19 Relief Fund will make grants to 501 (c )3 non-profit organizations.

The Marshfield Area COVID-19 Relief Fund is not able to provide grants to individuals. Instead, during Phase One of grant-making, the committee will work to move resources as quickly as possible to those community-based organizations directly supporting those most affected by COVID-19.

Grants from the COVID-19 Relief Fund will be recommended by an advisory committee appointed by MAUW & MACFI.

All COVID-19 Relief Funds will be used for COVID-19 relief.
