Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids split in WVC Softball Doubleheader

Marshfield (OnFocus) – Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln split a pair of games in WVC Softball action. The Tigers escaped with a 3-2 win before Rapids came back for a 12-5 win in Game 2.

Courtney Donahue kept Rapids at bay in Game 1, collecting 12 strikeouts and giving up just 3 hits.

Rhiannon Carroll took the loss for Rapids, giving up 6 hits and striking out 6.

Madalen Bornbach led Marshfield at the plate, collecting two hits.

Carroll tripled for Rapids, as did Bornbach and Brianna Jakobi of Marshfield.

Rapids jumped out to a 4-1 lead in in the first inning of Game 2, and blew the game wide open with 8 runs combined in innings 4 and 5.

Carroll came on in relief to pick up the win for Rapids.

Megan Clary was 3X5, Hayley Wagner 2X3, Allison Martin 2X2 and Kendall Ziegahn 2X4 for the  Red Raiders.

Loryn Jakobi was 2X4 for the Tigers.

Ziegahn, Clary and Jessica Dekarske doubled for Rapids, as did Jakobi and Bornbach for Marshfield.

Wagner had a pair of triples and Martin also tripled.
