Winners to Donate Portion of Funds to Other Participants

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Marshfield Area Pet Shelter and Marshfield Area United Way are recipients of $10,000 each through Forward Bank’s Guide Our Giving event.

The event invited residents from communities Forward Bank serves to cast their vote for a nonprofit. Over 15,000 votes were cast through Facebook polls. The nonprofits with the most votes will receive $10,000, with two nonprofits selected in Marshfield.

MAPS and Marshfield Area United Way announced they will team up and donate a portion of the funds to the other Marshfield nonprofits included in the contest, which included The Hannah Center, Soup or Socks, ODC, and Shirley’s House of Hope.

“We are all worthy causes in the community,” said Karen Rau, MAPS Executive Director. “We’re a lot stronger together, so we wanted to reach out and offer them part of our earnings also because we’re all valuable in the community.”

Rau said the pet shelter will determine what to do with the funds in a way that will make the biggest impact on the community.
