Conference outlook

We are a young team this year, but we also have a lot of talented players who want to succeed and improve their skills. With that being said, I feel that we will be able to compete with any team in the conference. Columbus will be the team to beat again this year. As the remaining teams in our conference are beginning to build some good programs as well, I believe we have the potential to improve our standing in the conference from last year. Our success will depend on how we can push through close matches and focus to get a win.

Keys to your success this season:

This year I’m really relying on my seniors to step up and become leaders. This group of seniors are respected by their teammates due to the fact that they respect everyone in return. These seniors don’t use their senior title in any negative way, and I’m excited to watch them grow and help the team as a whole grow as well. I am hoping they can turn this team into a family, and I have no doubt that they will do exactly that.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

Coach Viki Pieper does so much behind the scenes that she doesn’t always get the credit for. She organizes team meals, gets rosters ready, makes it as easy on the head coach as she can. She really is the glue that holds the team all together and we really couldn’t do it without her.

Coach Kristen Aumann also does so much behind the scenes. She runs our apparel making sure everyone has everything they need, helps with team meals, and mainly, she jumps in wherever she is needed. She catches things that I don’t always see and gives the great input.

Coach’s comments: anything else you’d like to share?

As the year has started and practices have taken a step back and have realized how hard these girls are working. They push themselves in every drill, every practice, and I know they will in every game as well. We are a VERY young team, with a lot of potential and a lot of room for growth. These girls want nothing more than to win, but they also want to watch their teammates succeed as well. I am excited for this season and watching these girls grow together!
