How to Run For Office In City of Marshfield

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Interested in making a difference in your community? You still have time to register and get nominations for one of the six seats in the Marshfield city government that are up for grabs.

City Clerk Deb Hall and the City of Marshfield Communications Department created a video to explain how the process works.

If a resident is interested in running for a seat on the council or for mayor, they will need to file an intent at the Clerk’s Office, located in City Hall. Once filed, the City Clerk (Deb Hall) will provide nomination papers for circulation of signatures. The first day to circulate nomination papers was Wednesday, December 1, 2021 and the last day for a candidate to file paperwork is Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. For more information on how to run for office, contact the City Clerk’s office at (715) 486-2023 or learn more online, here.
A term for mayor and alderperson in Marshfield begins on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. All terms are for two years. If a primary is necessary, the primary will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 otherwise the election is to be held in the city of Marshfield, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
The following offices are to be elected to succeed the present incumbents listed:
Mayor – Currently vacant
Alderperson, District 1 – Michael J. Feirer, present incumbent
Alderperson, District 3 – Quentin Rosandich, present incumbent
Alderperson, District 5 – Ed Wagner, present incumbent
Alderperson, District 7 – Adam Fischer, present incumbent
Alderperson, District 9 – Tom Buttke, present incumbent

Currently, all but two races have at least two individuals that have taken out nomination papers. Those people will have to have their nomination paperwork in to the City Clerk’s office before January 4th at 5 p.m. in order to be recognized as a candidate.
