MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Marshfield has welcomed new Pastor Katie Anderson to lead their congregation. After longtime Pastor Peter Ruggles retired in 2021, the church formed a Call Committee to begin the process of bringing in a new pastor. Pastor Katie was officially installed on June 26, 2022 by Bishop Laurie Skow-Anderson.
“The congregation is so grateful for the work of the Call Committee and the help of the synod in bringing such a faithful servant of the gospel here to help us grow in faith,” said Nancy Tibbett, Church Council President. “We look forward to learning together how we can serve the community and spread the love of Jesus with the help of Pastor Katie.”
Pastor Katie is from the small town of Spring Valley, Wisconsin. Her love of nature and care for creation led her to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After graduation she found her way to the ELCA’s program Young Adults in Global Mission where she served for a year in England as a chaplain’s assistant at a girl’s boarding school. While there, she realized she was being called to parish ministry. After returning from England, Pastor Katie began seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where she graduated in May 2022.
“I’m excited to begin ministry with the people of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church!” said Pastor Katie. “I look forward to getting to know both the congregation and the community of Marshfield.”
In her free time, Pastor Katie enjoys reading, music, spending time in nature, adventuring with friends, and watching all the British imports PBS has to offer.
All are welcome to attend worship on Sundays at 9:00am (outside, weather permitting) and Wednesdays at 6:00pm (Holden Evening Prayer Worship). To learn more about Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, please visit www.GoodShepherdMarshfield.org. Follow them on Facebook HERE.
