Goettl, Pearce earn wins as Marshfield takes third at Wisconsin Rapids Boys Track Invite

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Joey Goettl won the triple jump and Caden Pearce took first in the 400 meters to help Marshfield to a third-place finish at the Wisconsin Rapids Boys Track Invitational on Friday at Lincoln High School.

D.C. Everest won the team title with 619 points, with Berlin second with 541 and Marshfield third at 482.

Goettl was first in the triple jump with a leap of 20 feet, 2 inches, and Pearce won the 400 in 50.76 seconds for the Tigers’ two individual event wins.

Marshfield had eight runner-up finishes, including a pair from Pearce and one from Goettl.

Pearce took second in the 100 (11.44) and 200 (22.34), and Goettl was second in the long jump (20-2).

Other second-place finishes for the Tigers came from Addison Hill in the 800 (42.89), Jackson Ott in the 400 (53.21), Joshua McKee in the 1,600 (4:39.02), Joseph McKee in the 3,200 (10:03.41), and Adam Maki in the pole vault (12-6).
