Festival Foods Featured Recipe: Slow Cooker Holiday Ham

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Let your slow cooker do the work to prepare your holiday ham!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 orange, zest and juice of
  • 1 (8 lb.) bone-in ham
  • ¼ cup loosely packed brown sugar
  • 15 whole cloves

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together marmalade, mustard, orange zest and juice.
  2. Place ham cut side down in a 6-qt. slow cooker. Sprinkle with brown sugar; rub thoroughly on all sides. Sprinkle cloves throughout. Pour orange mixture over ham.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours, basting every two hours. Internal temperature should reach 145°F.
  4. Pour the liquid from the bottom of the crock pot into a small sauce pan. Place pan over medium-high heat and bring liquid to a simmer. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, or until mixture is slightly thickened. Pour sauce over ham; serve warm.

CHEF’S TIPS

If the slow cooker cover doesn’t fit, use foil to cover the slow cooker insert instead.
