Feeding around over 35,000 people at Farm Technology Days requires a great deal of coordination.

“The food is in a central distribution area, then it’s distributed out to the six tents unprepared. We do the grilling and prepping of the food at the tents,” said volunteer Mark Zimmerman.

To reflect Wood County’s role in agriculture, the food has a local flavor, such as cranberries, and most is locally sourced.

Each tent is staffed by volunteers from groups large and small, and get reimbursed. Proceeds are divided by the hours contributed.

Foot traffic has been busy. “The first people on registers opened at 9:30, and we’ve been busy ever since,” he said.
