In response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19), hotel staff are sanitizing public areas every 30 minutes. Staff are required to wash their hands every 20 minutes and stay home if ill.

Empty Bowls volunteers in contact with food, trays, and spoons will be wearing gloves. “We appreciate your support, BUT if you are ill or concerned about attending the event that others may be ill around you, please stay home and support us as you are able from your home,” stated organizers on the event Facebook page.

There have been six cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Wisconsin, but none in Wood or Marathon Counties. Five of those have occurred in the last week.

Three cases were confirmed Wednesday in Fond du Lac and Waukesha Counties, and another on Tuesday in Dane County. Another case was announced in Pierce County on Monday. The first case of 2019 novel coronavirus in Wisconsin was confirmed in Dane County on Feb. 5.

Area restaurants are donating soups to Empty Bowls, which takes place 11-2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a variety of soup options and take home a keepsake ceramic bowl. There will be raffle baskets and a 50/50 raffle.

Tickets are $10 for one large bowl of soup or three small bowls, or $15 for one large bowl and three small bowls. Buy tickets in advance until March 13 at 4:30 p.m. by calling Soup or Socks at 715-387-1796 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets are available at the door.
