Donor Matches Funds for Mary’s Place Through August 31.

Mary's Place on Central Ave in Marshfield

Marshfield (OnFocus) – An anonymous donor is matching funds for Mary’s Place in Marshfield through August 31 up to $12,500.

According to their website, “Mary’s Place is a non-profit housing facility focused on helping the homeless, no-income, low-income individuals in Marshfield and surrounding areas.”

Mary’s Place is a United Way partner through their Genesis Program. The “Genesis Room” is a special room where individuals who have no income can stay for free. They are allowed to stay up to six weeks while they are actively searching for a job. Low-income tenants are able to stay for a longer period as they search for more permanent housing.

Situated on Central Avenue, the organization has helped around 5,000 people find housing when they might not otherwise be able to afford it. Through grants, generous donors, and monthly pledge support, Mary’s Place has been able to serve Marshfield and the surrounding communities for fifteen years.

To donate to Mary’s Place, send a check made out to Mary’s Place Boarding House to 300 N Central Avenue in Marshfield or visit this link: marysplacemarshfield.org/giving. Donations received before August 31 will be matched by the anonymous donor.

If not in a position to donate money, Mary’s Place also looks for donations of items and time. Their food pantry is always taking donations. Items like canned goods or microwavable food are encouraged. They also look for kitchen utensils such as plates, cups, silverware, etc.

To donate items, Mary’s Place asks that individuals call ahead and schedule a time to drop off the goods. Mary’s Place does not accept donations of clothing, but they will direct people to donate clothes to local thrift stores in the area.

There are many opportunities to volunteer through Mary’s Place, but volunteers must go through an application process first. To get the application, call Mary’s Place and ask for Peter McDonald.
