Donations Needed to Help Support Family

OnFocus – Auburndale mother Alison Snortheim is in need of a new kidney and financial support after receiving news this week that her previous organ transplant has failed.

“She started to have complications that continued to get worse and now the kidney is no longer functioning,” said Wendy Bendickson, Alison’s mother. “It’s been numerous things – all of them together just put too much strain on the kidney.”

Though forever grateful to Alison’s original donor, the young mother is now back to square one. (DONATE HERE)

“She’s been in the hospital now for a week again,” said Bendickson, adding the Alison is on dialysis three times a week until her body recovers and she’s able to be placed on the transplant list again.

In the meantime, Alison’s family is unable to visit her.

“The kids miss mom,” said Bendickson. “She spent the majority of the past six months in a hospital. With not seeing the kids and just the whole financial burden of being three hours away [at Mayo Clinic]…it’s rough.”

Between expenses and caring for a 2 and 3 year-old on one income, the family is struggling financially.

“It’s very stressful for them,” said Bendickson. “One thing they shouldn’t have to worry about is how they are going to pay their bills.”
